The task was to design an app about nature or music/events. I chose “nature” and decided to create an app for hiking/adventures in Austria and Germany. I started the project by interviewing people, asking them 12 questions e.g. what they would love to have in a hiking app. The next step was to create an empathy map, an information architecture and an user flow, followed by two personas. Simultaneously I first created analog wireframes and then digital ones. We then did user-testings in our class. One of the biggest challenges was displaying all the requested information (sunrise/sunset, best time for the hike, needed equipment, nearby routes, fully customisable search, route planer, adding favourites, statistics..). To me it was really important for the design to be and feel natural, which is e.g. why I went with two different shades of green and rounded edges. After giving the design finishing touches in “Sketch”, I took the design into “Principle” to create a clickable prototype.

As part of the course I documented every step of the project (from interviews to the final design) on a Tumblr blog (only available in German).
